CPI likely to join hands with BJP for T cause
Hyderabad: Breaking all barriers, whether it be in terms of ideology or political angle the Communist Party of
India took a bold decision to work along with Bharatiya Janata Party, TDP and TRS for the cause of Telangana. This is a significant decision considering the fact that CPI and BJP are poles apart, and the left party had gone on record on several occasions by stating that it would not forge a partnership with the communal BJP. This issue was widely discussed at the extended state executive meeting of the CPI held at Makdhoom Bhavan on Thursday. In the fight for separate statehood apart from taking along Telugu Desam, which gave clarity on Telangana issue at the allparty meet, the left leaders felt that they should also invite the BJP. Leaving out the saffron party would be unfair, some leaders said, according to sources. However, an official statement from CPI in this regard is expected on Friday. Apart from the present political situation, CPI leaders also discussed about the agitations for land and power related issues. They propose to hold a round table conference with all political parties including TDP, TRS and YSRCP on the power problems faced by the state. A massive dharna at Indira Park on January 19 for mounting pressure on the Centre to fulfil the promise made at the allparty meeting besides condemning the provocative speeches made by Akbaruddin Owaisi were the two resolutions passed at the meeting. Meanwhile the party appealed to the cadres to gear up for the state-wide protests call given by the left parties on January 22 against the government’s move for collecting fuel surcharge adjustments (FSAs) with monthly electricity bills.
